Reminiscing

My sister received her high school yearbook a couple of days ago. Interesting to see familiar faces who were younger than me, who are now currently the 'seniors' at the high school. It's a little odd to consider what high school might be like now without my class there. How things change when people are always coming and going.

I decided to bust out my senior high school yearbook just a little while ago... just to see what was going on 'back in the day.' Ha, granted it was just last year, but it seems like so much time has passed since then. All of the comments in my yearbook really crack me up. It's funny to see how some people considered me, what my good friends wrote.. and inside my yearbook I also found a typed hard copy of the honor speech I gave, a transcipt, a drawing a good friend gave me, graduation party invites, a commencement program, and 'e"Special"y'-for-you' papers that we did in a particular unique class I participated in.

The e-special-y papers are really interesting to look back on. There are categories.. "From you I learned.." "I admire you for.." .."I will never forget"... "One quality that stands out about you.." .. "A funny memory I have of you.." .. "Some words of wisdom for you are.."

Every person would get an individual paper with my name on it with these category sub-titles, and then they would fill out each category and I received all of the papers back in the end (we did this with everyone in the class)... ... and it's just... wow... crazy to see how extremely similar all of the responses are from people.... I'm not sure if I should take pride in it or what.. I suppose I do.. I just didn't realize to the extent people perceived me I guess...

I vaguely remember typing these out before.. but I couldn't find it.. so.. I want to record this. It's a great reflection of who I was in high school I guess (and who I still am to a certain extent).

From you I learned..
To never give up :)
To get good grades
So many things and friendship (Cola)
To work toward our goals
To follow your heart and reach for the stars, even if they are far away
You can do anything you want to
Priorities
To go for all of my goals
To watch my mouth (?? ..lol)
Hard work does pay off
How to be serious and still have fun
How to let go of the small things and focus
About people in general. And what it takes to be a hard worker. (Ky)

I admire you for....
Your determination
Exceeding in school
Your crazy attitude
Your success and achievement
Your intelligence and true sense of self
Your achievements
Sticking with your goals
How hard you work and concentrate on school
Your smarts
Being such a great person
Your knowledge
Being so determined
Ability to work hard and pursue a goal and succeed

I will never forget...
Our many "chats"
Your positive attitude
That you don't know how to cook (ouch.. Cola.. haha)
--I don't know-- (this girl and I have a mutual understanding that we both will promptly forget each other. Haha. nooo. she was just. a little annoying)
Your struggle over college decisions
When I heard you say Pepperdine was for you
Your sheer committment
How nice you are
Sitting with ya on the cummffys
You being outspoken in class (?? ... uhm.. I thought I was one of the quiet-er ones in the class.. but..)
How funny/ditzy you are.
The "Adams Family" game (Oh God. haha. Please let them all forget.)
Your gifts - your lessons, your thoughts, intellect, and journal (journal given as a gift)

One quality that stands out about you is...
Your positive outlook
Your discipline in school
Your ambition to reach your goals
Your perserverance
Your total openness and inquisitive nature!
Your ambition
Your intelligence.. duh!
You strive for the highest, and you never give up
Your silence
You work hard
Your positive attitude
You're genuine
Your dedication

A funny memory I have of you is...
"What's Spring Bash all About?" -- the sign
When I got that thing caught in your hair
Our ketchup fights
When we played "Adam's Family"
Just your general 'spaciness' sometimes :)
--blank--
Head banging during Adam's family (ok.. I had no clue as to what I was suppose to be doing... long story)
--blank--
--blank--
The games we played in class
All the times we had peer group
When you locked your keys in the car
All of your 'blonde moments'

Some words of wisdom for you are...
Have fun @ Pepperdine!
You go girl
Don't stress out and drive safe
Nothing girl, you are smart!
Never stop short of your potential .. you have so much to offer the world and yourself!
Keep reaching for the stars!
Have fun in college, success isn't everything
Never give up, you'll go far
Strive for the great when it gets hard
Have a great summer
Keep smiling
Don't ever settle for less than you deserve .. & have SAFE SEX (I wonder how her baby is doing.. or how the pregnancy went.. heh)
In your work and all that you do - make it something a part of you.. so it can be recognized and apparent to everyone that is yours. And grow in ways that most people are not willing to grow.

Well. That's all. Yearbook comments are funny too.. but leaving those out.
