work day 4 - continued with the minor pts. of my day

ha, that was a trick, because, my entire job is "the minor points of the day." Well, these are the especially minor points of unnecessary note.
A lady always walks by my office area talking about how she's SOOOOO excited for her son who will be a freshman attending my old high school (feels good to be able to say that ;D).. but a division within my high school which I helped create. It's a "school-within-a-school" that emphasizes higher education in technology, math, and science, for college-bound students. *shrug* anyway.. I'm happy for her excitement, lol, but it's kind of funny.. she asks me a million questions about it just because my previous-boss told her that I was involved with setting that thing up.. actually, he told her I was valedictorian of my class and so I had to say something - "uhm.. yeah. Actually, I know what you're talking about because I helped setup that school/program."
A couple of days later this lady still walks by and asks me some things about it. Her comments: "I just can't believe he was accepted! I mean.. they only accept 40 students!" ahha.. it's pretty cute actually, her enthusiasm... that's a good mom for you.
Today she asked to use my phone because she needed to call her older son.. upon which she asked me my age.. and then she said.. "You know what.. I should introduce you to my older 19 yr. old son... you seem like such a nice girl.."
lol, I swear, this job cracks me up. but, yeah, I just kind of chuckled that one off.

Then, to my surprise, I had to be at a big conference which was the room directly in-front of my desk (usually I just watch the 'elites' walk to and from the room.. not actually be in them).. it was interesting... our senator and representative spoke, people were angry about some issues, and I just sat back and enjoyed some food while I worried that the people who employed me for the "greeter" position might be pissed that I wasn't "greeting".. heh.. I'm only the greeter, I wouldn't be missed, I figured. Finally, at the end of the conference, I was recognized for some volunteer work I have participated in for over the past 3 years.

By the way - Arizona is going down the tubes. There are some MAJOR debt-issues which have hardly been addressed by the state to the public. Or rather, they have been addressed, but nothing has been done, things are getting worse, and everyone in Arizona is going to find out the hard way coming up in a year. I'm glad I'm moving to California - where I can worry about other miiiiinor things - like... earthquakes, power-shortage, mud slides (Malibu), and fires.
