social-centrifuge

wow - if there ever is a center-location to be-in-the-know surrounding what's going on in the community.. where I started my first day of work today (8 a.m. sharp) is where it's at. I "greet" everyone as they walk through the sliding doors. Actually, I just sit at my desk and computer, and smile at them as they walk in. In the meantime, I watch the community figureheads debate/grieve outside of the main meeting room which is located just to the left of my desk. So-far today I've seen the mayor, the media (people from our news station), and other community-service-coordinators whom I personally know due to the fact that I've been involved in a lot of different things with them. Heh, maybe that sounds haughty, but it's true. *shrug* The UPS guy knew who I was - I signed for the packages, he looks at my signature and says "(my name).. didn't you just graduate?" (probably saw my name in the paper or something?) it's kind of crazy.
The media was interviewing someone directly in front of my desk around noon. There was a huge meeting about the massive fires which are going - and the 'drought situation'. Heh, many of these people have been between my town and Show low working with the fire issue which is going on. I heard one guy describe everyone leaving Show low as if they were a 'heard of antelope', and how he wants the evacuation process for my area to be better planned (considering my town is 6 times larger) should evacuation ever be necessary.

oh.. then I had to deal with a hit-and-run situation. fun stuff. ha. I just posted a note on the guy's/girl's car telling them to 'come see the greeter for information.' When people came in and told me someone had hit a car and was leaving, I ran outside and managed to get the person's liscense plate who was taking off. BUSTED. lol, that's all for now. phone!
