Monday, April 22, 2002 my response to this random guy's blog entry.. Hi, I know this is kind of random just writing you about a journal entry you wrote at http://canofworms.blogspot.com/ (Apr. 21).. heh, true it is that you have a right to voice your opinion, but I thought I should just share my viewpoint on your opinion as I would be included in the group who you categorize as "a bunch of people who don’t get enough attention at home and they will say anything to be heard". No, I'm not writing you asking for any 'apology' .. so no worries. I'll make it 'short and sweet' just as you tried to do. Heh, first off, I think the group has an extremely legitimate concern as such things as the 'patriotic act' have been compromising the American people's rights ever since the "war against terrorism" (oh, but let's just overlook the fact that there never was actually a declaration of 'war') ever began. As far as the 'college student passing out literature' goes, heh, I believe that your thinking is a little skewed by believing that these people who are advocating an end to what the Bush administration have been doing are by any means 'obligated by college professors' to pass out these fliers.. true that they have the right to speak out, and obviously they have taken advantage of that right by their own will/beliefs. Perhaps the pamphlet you were given did not accurately describe the group's main objectives in protest against the "war", but those can be clarified at http://www.a20stopthewar.org/. Heh, there will never be a 'solution' for terrorism, so you suggesting that this group should have one if they're going to protest is unreasonable. The facts are that the American people's rights are being compromised in every way from privacy to detaining people illegally and later trying them in "military courts". If we simply sit back and watch the American government take advantage of this apparent power that they are recently exercising to great extents in 'the name of terrorism', then we may be giving up large rights which we have fought to conserve over many years (such as privacy) .. heh, all being reversed in a matter of a month.. think about it. Thanks for hearing me out. :) - 'Lin' --------end------------ agreed? . . . babbled Lin |
